If you are reading this, and have not submitted a Registration Form for this upcoming season, You need to do so to be included in the draft.
I would like to thank all of you for not only your patience as we tried to resolve this matter, but your support through what was a very tough season for all of us.
I am very confident that the agreement between the P.R.O.H.L., and the City pf Peterborough in regard to our future, is solid, and has developed a “compromise”, that will allow us a stability for many years to come.
There are 2 people who need to be acknowledged.
Firstly, Kelly Posavad of the Arena Division Staff who was awesome through the process. Secondly, I take my hat off to Bruce Macdonald, who kept us focused, and relaxed when it was very hard to do. Thanks Bruce!!
Now let’s get back to Hockey!!!!
All post dated cheques will be cashed by July 31st.
The Draft will take place in the first week of August.
The schedule will be posted, along with the Team Rosters by the 20th of August.
It’s time to refocus, have Fun, exhibit Fair Play, and enjoy the Fellowship that this great game of hockey has to offer us.
The Peterborough Recreational Oldtimers Hockey League (PROHL) is an Adult Recreational Hockey League located in Peterborough, Ontario. The League consists of 4 Junior Teams (35 - 44yrs), 6 Intermediate Teams (45 ??54 yrs), and 4 Senior Teams (55 + yrs) comprising a total of 224 players. The games are played Friday Nights between 7:00 pm and 11:00 pm at the Kinsmen Civic Centre Arenas. For more information, please see the Schedule link.
The PROHL is arguably the longest running Oldtimers Hockey League in Canada. Started by John Gouett in 1974 with an inaugural 6 teams playing Friday Nights, the PROHL has spawned other Oldtimers Tournament teams and Leagues, both in Canada and Internationally. The first Canadian Oldtimers Hockey Tournament was held in Peterborough in February 1975. A Plaque hangs at the Kinsmen Civic Centre commemorating the original six teams and 90 founding members.
The minimum age for the PROHL is 35 yrs and was established by John Gouett as he was 35 when he formed the League and he didn't want anyone younger than him in the League.
One of the Original Players (Jim Gillogly) and two of the Original Referees (Greg Marchen and Mike Girard) are still active on-ice participants in the League.
The League has grown over the years to its current size of 224 players on 14 teams in 3 Divisions, but has never wavered from its credo of Fun, Fair Play, and Fellowship targeted toward the Recreational Player.
The PROHL owes its success not only to the Players, but to the many Volunteers who, over the years, have served as Executive Members and Team Representatives/Managers. Without these dedicated people the League could not operate.
